Alpha Gamma Delta (AGD)

Alpha Gamma Delta was officially founded on May 30, 1904 at the home of Dr. Wellesley Perry Coddington, a professor at Syracuse University who was instrumental in the early development of Alpha Gamma Delta. Each of the Fraternity’s eleven founders were progressive women who selflessly contributed to the foundation and growth of Alpha Gamma Delta. Since the founding, collegiate chapters have been installed at 181 colleges and universities across North America and more than 145,000 women have become Alpha Gam sisters. Guided by our Purpose, Alpha Gamma Deltas are impacting our communities and contributing to the world’s work.

Delta Nu Chapter was installed at the University of Calgary in 1983. The chapter provides its members with many scholastic, philanthropic, and social opportunities and creates an avenue for women to get involved in all aspects of life at the U of C. To help members excel academically, Delta Nu participates in a weekly study hall program and maintains a test bank that sisters can use in their studies. Members participate in a variety of philanthropic endeavours including the Campus Food Drive, Bras for a Cause, Run for the Cure, Skate a Kid to Camp, and Delta Nu’s new annual event to support the Alberta Children’s Hospital, the 24 Hour Teeter Totter for Tots. Additionally, the ladies engage in a variety of formal and informal social activities such as sisterhood nights, exchanges with the other Greek chapters on campus, and the annual Sweethearts Ball dinner and dance held in February.

Today, Alpha Gamma Delta enjoys wide recognition as a premier women’s organization committed to academic excellence, leadership development, high ideals and sisterhood. The Fraternity makes a unique, lifelong impact on its members. No matter where life takes an Alpha Gam, she will always find herself surrounded by sisterhood.
