At Alpha Omicron Pi we strive to Inspire Ambition in our sisters, our University campus, and our community through volunteering, academic growth, and leadership opportunities. The Object of our Fraternity inspires us to stand at all times for character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty. The four founders established AOII in 1897 at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City, New York.

 

Our history is rich with inspiring leaders and women who paved the way for our sisters today to achieve their goals and make their career dreams come true. Our mascot is the Panda, our jewel is the ruby, our flower is the Jacqueminot rose, and our colour is cardinal red. Our international philanthropy is Arthritis because we believe in the ability to conquer it, and it affects mostly women and children. 

 

Since 1897, we have grown to include 302 collegiate and alumnae chapters over 58 states and provinces, across Canada and the United States. We total with over 191 000 sisters! The Kappa Lambda chapter of AOII here at the University of Calgary was established in 1985 by eleven brave, determined, and motivated women. 

 AOII offers a home during the life-changing years at University/College. You'll find a lifetime of opportunity, support, and love amongst your collegiate sisters. Our chapters take pride in our philanthropy and leadership with the backing of our perseverant alumnae chapters. Internationally, we help sisters with fundraisers, scholarships, annual international conferences, networking with alumnae, and a sisterhood that supports you throughout your lifetime. Alpha Omicron Pi is truly a mosaic of individuals that are unique, yet all strive to live by the same ideals of Inspiring Ambition, empowering women, and supporting our fraternity and sisters.
